Signing & Reading at Chicago’s The Book Stall

We had a great turnout at the Book Stall, an independent bookstore and an institution on Chicago’s North Shore. Thank you to everyone who came out last night.

An unexpected surprise from the evening was meeting a descendant of Peggy Shippen and the Shippen family! She and her niece had driven an hour and a half to come hear the talk, and she  brought with her some papers that her own family has shared through the years. She is sitting in the front row, just to the right of the aisle in a blue shirt in this picture below. It was wonderful to meet her and speak with her. And a big thanks to everyone who works at Book Stall for managing such a dynamic and welcoming place where readers and writers love to spend time!

Following the event at the Book Stall, we had a fun evening with the Yale Women Chicago chapter. It was a fantastic night filled with plenty of book talk and friends new and old! Hopping on a plane now for Texas – where I’ll be visiting locations in Austin and Houston. If you’re in the area, I’d love to hear from you on Facebook or Twitter!
