SISI Turns One on International Women’s Day!

Happy InternationalWomensDay! I couldn’t think of a better or more fitting day to celebrate SISI’s 1st birthday than on the day honoring women across the world who have been thinkers, fighters, lovers, adventurers, and doers.

51fwctuV3IL._SX333_BO1,204,203,200_It’s been exactly one year today since SISI’s publication, and by far one of the best things that has come about in the year since this book’s launch is the way this story has connected readers and women who have come forward with their own remarkable stories. Just last night I received an email from a woman who is reading her copy of SISI in Jerusalem and she was telling me about her travels there.

One of the highest purposes of books is to connect us, is it not? When we read a book that really means something to us, we connect to the characters, we connect to the plot, we connect to the author, and, hopefully, we connect to one another as we discuss great stories and the stories of our own. Even–especially–works of fiction carry within their pages the call to action to engage more deeply and meaningfully with the reality we are writing day to day.

Happy first birthday, SISI!
