Happy Holidays!

The holidays can be a magical, hectic and wild time of year. What with all of the shopping to be done, the holiday parties to be attended, the travel plans to be made, the Christmas cards to be addressed and mailed — these few weeks can pass in a dizzying blur of wrapping paper and sugar and never-ending to-do lists.

But the holidays are also an incredible time for taking stock. For reflecting on the past year and the year ahead. And they are also an especially suitable time to tell those in your life just how grateful you are to have them and know them and care about them. So that is the purpose of this post: to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a joy-filled holiday season and the happiest new year.

At our Christmas pageant this past weekend, the pastor pointed out the fact that the nativity scene was not exactly your “ideal” setting for giving birth. It wasn’t neat or tidy and it did not exactly go “according to plan.” But you know what? In that imperfection was an exquisite and divine beauty — maybe not “perfect” according to the standards of this world, but perfect nonetheless.

So, let’s all remember to embrace the imperfect. To embrace our loved ones. To savor the triumphs of this past year and to learn from the trials.

I’m looking ahead to this next year with so much joy and optimism, and a large part of that is because I get to do what I love and share it with all of you.

Another thing making 2016 so special? Sisi: Empress on Her Own will be released in March and I absolutely cannot wait to share her continuing story with you.

Happy Holidays!
